The only Team West Team to win their Match 3-0 was Founding Father James Combs and brother Mike Combs. They played a great match against Team East Captain Ryan Fay and Founding Father Terry Moran. In a close match Team West pulled it out. However, Team East took an what proved to be an insurmountable lead in a dominating performance. The only hope Team West had at this point was to sweep the single ball matches. Team West had dominate the single ball matches in recent years so their was hope. The first matches started off as ties. Kevin and Digger Koziarz's had a brother match and split 1.5 points each. L. Citarelli and B. Bookamer did battle and also split their match 1.5 each. The single ball matches were as competitive as they've ever been this year. Most were very close and came down to 1 or 2 holes. C. Heaney scored one of the few 3-0 single ball matches for Team West. However, this year Team East was too tough. Their top guys played great and took home the victory for Team East. S. VanHoesen played a great match against A. Tobaccowala making a 40 foot putt on the 18th hole to shot 75 and split the match. Another strong performance was J. Little from Team East. Jason played Vince Scheraldi from Team West. Both players had an outstanding day. Jason was on his game all day and wouldn't let up. Winning a close match against Vince. Another rookie and Team East number 1 seed was E. Mcloughlin. Eamon played Team West Captain E. Killeen. Eamon ended up playing a great match and coming from 2 down to tie the front 9 to split the points. The back 9 both players continued to make birdies and pars. The match was all squared with 3 holes to play. Killeen made a crucial mistake on a short par 3 and bogied and Eamon took the lead for the first time and was too tough of a player to surrender it. He ended up shooting an even par 72 and handed Killeen his first ever Classic lose. 2.5 to .5. and earn 2009 MVP honors. Congratulations Team East on a dominating performance and a great win.
